When I make dances, or any other creative work, I give my body the first word in terms of understanding the context and the inspirations that come, and the making of creative choices from where I define the specificity of each particular project. I understand this as a process of communication. Communication from outside to inside and from inside to outside, through my physical, organic, emotional, and aureal body.
I always include in the word “body” the multiple processes of thought, emotion and behavior that take place in the mind-bone-skin-organ-fluid-jointed system.
We develop dance technique and composition tools by exploring and challenging these communication processes, integrating movement and thought in a constant exchange, in a common process.
We question the notions of “inside” and “outside”, at the time of being aware of their difference and functions in their interaction.
We start the practice by defining and enhancing inner communication processes based on a deep physical grounding and projection through the transference ability of joints. By Unlocking the different systems of the body we disintegrate habits in movement and thought to open up perception and response.
Dance technique is approached as and ever-developing process, based on personal research through moving, thinking, questioning and risking in action.
The making of dances is inspired in these communication processes and trained through the investigation and awareness of the organic system and its function in the making of choice.
Training and composing are not divided entities but we give time to their different tools.
The work is informed by my training in the whole diversity of modern and postmodern dance techniques, tai chi, Alexander technique, somatic movement, body mind centering, contact improvisation. And greatly influenced by my work with Mathilde Monnier, Benoit Lechambre, Julyen Hamilton, Chrissa Parkinsson, Martin Kilvady, Trisha Brown among others.
